How to choose a metal keypad
"I am not sure which model of the keyboards you produce will be the best for me. I am new to your products".
Many times we will meet customers of this type. They have not been exposed to this product before. They may deal with temporary projects and need to purchase metal keyboard. This article is about to guide you on how to choose a suitable keypad promptly. Please note that examples are all based on stainless steel keypad.
1. Tell us about the Number of keys,key function, and layout
The common standard keypads on the market have 3X4, 4X4, 4X5, 5X5 layouts, and the common key functions are 0-9, *, #, Esc, PgUp, PgDn, Enter, Clear, Delete, Cancel, Confirm, etc. So you need to tell me how many buttons you want, the function of the buttons, whether you need braille, whether you need a buzzer (it will make a sound when you press the button).
2. Suitable dimensions
Tell me the approximate size requirements, we will recommend a keyboard close to that size to you. If there is no keyboard of suitable size for the time being，we will find out to see how to customize the panel for the best fit.
3. Mounting solutions
Generally speaking, there are only three installation methods, front panel, rear panel, or desktop
4. Illumination or not?
This depends on your requirements and application as well. If the keypad has to be worked in a dim working environment, then a keypad with a backlight will be great to do its job. The color of the backlight can be customize, usually blue, you can also choose red, green, yellow, white, etc.
5. IP Grade
Most of the metal keyboards have a waterproof rating of IP54, IP65, IP66, and IP68.IP65 is the choice of most people, but if your device is used outdoors and does not have a protective cover, then you need to consider an IP68 waterproof keyboard
